Trucks And SUVs: The Best Sellers Of 2015.
According to figures released by the top automotive manufacturers, trucks and SUV sales in 2015 eclipsed those of other vehicle types, such as four-door sedans.
Sales of small to large sedans fell by 11% in 2015, while pickup trucks and SUV’s went up by 15% from 2014.
The trend is also viewed to continue for at least the short term.
The Ford F-150 pickup truck was one of the bestselling in the United States, with the GMC Sierra and thethe Chevrolet Silverado being two of the bestsellers.
So why is everybody shifting from the ubiquitous sedan to the truck and SUV market?
Like any trend in sales, there are usually a number of factors.
Truck sales usually increase along with countrywide construction activity, which is a good gauge of the rise of homes being built across the country.
“This demand for small SUVs is coming from both baby boomers and millennials. We think this is a long-term trend [that will] play out for years to come,” he said. “The oldest millennials are in their mid-30s and starting families. The baby boomers like the ease of access that these SUVs offer.”
said Erich Merkle, sales analyst at Ford Motor.
Sedans is not going to go away any time soon, but having an all-round performing vehicle seems to be hot property at the moment and the truck and SUV market are showing no signs of slowing down.
