The average SUV is used as either a family-size vehicle, grocery-getter, bulky personal transportation pod or for the odd spot of offroading. However, this sector is also seeing an influx of performance vehicles, one example being the Drako Dragon.

If you need transportation practicality and a whole heap of power, then the 2,000 horsepower generated from the Dragon’s four electric motors should do the job. The concept was devised by Silicon Valley entrepreneurs Dean Drako and Shiv Sikand, who wanted to design a vehicle they couldn’t find on the road.

The idea behind the Dragon is to offer the same lunacy as their supercar GTE model, with even more power but at half the price of the GTE. This price point puts it in the category of a Ferrari 812 Superfast and Lamborghini Aventador with the advantage of far more power behind the wheels.

The powertrain consists of Drako’s DriveOS Quad Motor and their own bespoke battery system. Positive and negative torque can be controlled at each motor, translating to a 1.9 second 0-60mph time, 9 second quarter-mile time, and a top speed of over 200mph. A three-stage suspension setup should allow smooth road-going and off-road ability.

As for roundabout pricing, there is no official figures as yet. However, the Dragon will be squarely placed in the super SUV sector, up there with the likes of Aston Martin, Bentley, Lamborghini, and Rolls-Royce.
