Utilising the data gleaned from thousands of owners, the survey gives a comprehensive overview of the overall ownership experience to expect with each model. Here, we reveal the top 10 most reliable 4x4s and SUVs according to the 2023 Driver Power survey results.
Toyota RAV4
Kicking off our list is the Toyota RAV4. Boasting a 95.99% reliability rating, the popular SUV is well built, with owners reporting few problems and issues. In fact, five out of the top 10 most reliable 4x4s and SUVs of 2023 were designed and built by Toyota. The hybrid RAV4 itself comes with a warranty that can be extended up to 15 years if annual Toyota Hybrid Electric services are booked, meaning buyers can rest assured that maintenance costs won’t spiral out of control.
Lexus NX and RX
Fourth place goes to the Lexus NX and RX, described by owners as being ‘really well put together’. Indeed, the Japanese manufacturer goes one step further than its rivals, offering an additional 12 months or 10.000-mile warranty for every main dealer service, up to 10 years or 100,000 miles. The Lexus RX, boasts a 96.78% reliability rating and scores within the top ten for four other categories in the 2023 Driver Power survey. Mazda CX-5
The Mazda CX-5 is a dependable model with owners reporting few mechanical issues. With a 95.52% reliability rating, it’s no surprise that the CX-5 was also awarded a top ten score for build quality in the 2023 Driver Power survey. A three-year/unlimited-mileage warranty comes as standard, while the option of extending the period up to five years and 100,000 miles is also available.
Ford Ecosport
The Ford Ecosport is an excellent car for commuters due to its practicality and fuel efficiency. It scored 95.45% in the Driver Power survey, with owners praising its quiet and refined ride. The standard three-year/60,000-mile warranty can be extended up to five years/100,000 miles, ensuring that buyers have protection for the life of their car.
Subaru Outback
The Subaru Outback is a reliable mid-size SUV with a 95.23% reliability score. Owners report that this model offers excellent value for money, with few mechanical issues noted. The standard three-year/36,000-mile warranty can be extended up to five years/60,000 miles, so you’re well protected.
