Inspiration By A 1939 Ford Truck

When I bought my old Chevy truck and got it home I could not have been happier. A childhood dream was fulfilled and now I can share my happiness. And I did without really knowing how much.

You can see in this picture a 1939 Ford Truck. A guy in our neighborhood drove by my old 49 truck for about a year and finally stopped in one day. He wanted to see it up close and ask a bible full of questions all of which I answered with excitement. I mean who does not like to show off your ride once in a while.

Anyway, one day about a year after that discussion the door bell rings and it is my new found friend and he points to the street. He is gleaming with pride and asks me to go out and look it over and wants my opinion. I thought that was too late because he already bought it but I went out. What I found was a very sturdy, solid truck. It had some wiring issues I could see but the body was tight and the engine ran well. He was having a transmission shifting issue but he got a simple fix from a locally owned and knowledgable transmission shop.

The old truck is a driver and when I see him he looks so happy. We have chatted at a car show or in our respective driveways about our trucks. It is a bond that is unbreakable. Now, when I say neighbors I do not mean right next door. He is about a quarter mile away from me around a bend in the road. I really did not know him previously at all. Now, we share a wave and smile and when the weather is good we get together and update each other on our classic trucks.

My point is this and it is very simple. With your classic car or truck you never know who you are inspiring to join our money depleting hobby. For me, I met a new guy in the neighborhood and now a new friend. Hopefully he feels the same way too as we have a bond we did not have previously.

So, be an inspiration. On a nice day wheel that classic outside and let others enjoy its beauty. You never know who you will meet or talk too.

You never know who just might finally be inspired to lay out the cash and join in our fun. They come from all walks of life and social circles. Be proud of your classic and don’t hide it under blankets in the garage so that only you can enjoy the bedspread that once was on your queen bed. Share the glory, the fun, and the friendships that will come your way.
