We would all like our vehicle to keep going forever, but the ones that reach of 200,000 miles or more are the exception rather than the norm.

The guys over at iSeeCars.com screened over 12 million used vehicles to see which had the most successful sales with over 200,000 miles on the odometer.
The top 10 mostly features trucks and large SUV, with 6% being Ford F-250 Super Duty trucks and 5.7% being Chevy Silverado 2500HDs.

The review does include sedans, but as the focus here is on SUVs and trucks, we will focus on these vehicles.

Large SUVs.
Mostly uses as family transportation vehicles, where extra passenger and cargo space is a priority, along with reliability.
The top performers here were the Toyota 4Runner (5.2 percent), Chevrolet Tahoe (3.4 percent), and GMC Yukon (2.7 percent).

Luxury SUV’s.
The Lincoln Navigator and the Cadillac Escalade coming first and second with 2% and 1.4%, but probably have their mileage kept down due to mostly being used as lease vehicles and the fear of clocking up high mileage on a luxurious vehicle.

Pickup trucks.
The Chevrolet Silverado HD was one of the top winners here being used on average about 33% more miles than the average car.
Manufacturers stake their reputation on how long their trucks will last, which is an added benefit here.

As these vehicles last longer than most, they hold their value. A Ford F-250 Super Duty with over 200,000 mile, is still worth $11,229 compare to similar mileage sedan of average make.

There are many factors that go into a car blasting over 200,000 miles.
Trucks and SUV’s are in this bracket as they are arguably maintained more often, being family or work vehicles, but the takeaway here is if you want a vehicles to last as long as possible, an SUV or truck is the way to go.
